A leader in European beachwear, the Italian brand has opened its first Barra Shopping store in Rio de Janeiro and has expansion plans for the entire Brazilian territory
Italian brand Miss Bikini presented its exclusive and innovative collection present in the Barra store on February 28, in Ipanema during the Verao Rio festival. Although it was created in Rio de Janeiro, by Italians Andrea Teofilatto and Alessandra Piacentini, in 1989, the brand was founded in Italy.
Now all the cariocas can admire the products manufactured in special textures, from laminates to Como silk, inside the Barra da Tijuca mall store. In the store, the customer will find a special selection of all the brand's lines and capsules: Swimwear, Beach Couture, Colors, Black and White and 7Sins.
"Brazil has always been on our minds. Over the past few years, we have followed all the brands of beachwear who grew up here, and today I am proud to return to where the dream began. Debut in Rio is a great personal achievement. "We feel at home," says Andrea Teofilatto, CEO and founder of the brand alongside his wife, designer Alessandra Piacentini.
Present in cities such as Rome and Milan, and in the elegant towns of Porto Cervo, Riccione and Forte dei Marmi, in Italy, but also in Ibiza, Palma de Mallorca in Spain, Cannes and Saint Tropez in France, Mykonos in Greece, Miss Bikini wants to continue her expansion plan in Brazil. Also in 2023, a second store will open in Ipanema; a third in São Paulo; and another in Trancoso, Bahia.
“Brazil is a very important country on the world stage. I think Brazilians have no idea how revered they are in Italy and around the world. I, for example, am an "italics" jokes the CEO of Miss Bikini.
Innovative, the brand that has more than 400 multibrands worldwide, always present on the catwalks of Milan and New York, explores fabrics such as neoprene, silk, processed and embroidered lycra, and always creates new models as happened for the push up.
In addition to bikinis and swimwear, the Rio summer show featured Miss Bikini designer dresses that are worn at all trendy Italian parties.
"The clothes began to be purchased for formal occasions and ceremonies. We saw an opportunity in the sector and decided to launch, during Milan Fashion Week 2008, a new collection to accompany women from the beach directly to glamorous clubs for a drink while enjoying the sunset, thus moving from aperitifs to parties” says Andrea Teofilatto.
For Andrea Teofilatto, the secret to Miss Bikini's success lies in the union of sensuality from the Brazilian model to Italian design.
“We took the "Ipanema girl" to Italy and realized that, on the beach, European women and Brazilian women are very similar. Both seek style, quality and exclusivity. This is why we do not give up artisanal production”
Historical notes
At the end of 1980, Andrea Teofilatto noticed that the beachwear of the Sardinian resorts needed something more. She then decided to break with the family tradition of lawyers, to work in the fashion industry.
Andrea then began production of his brand in the mountain region of Rio de Janeiro. For 14 years, the entrepreneur initially produced in Brazil to export to Europe, before moving everything to Italy.
